Staff Training

The ALL Rooms’ staff consists of approximately 11 students (8 Japanese and 3 international students). We rely on the staff to carry out day to day ALL Rooms’ activities smoothly and to plan and coordinate special events that are fun for all levels of language learners.

Holding annual staff training retreats has been an important part of developing the staff’s language, management, and team work skills. The staff training retreats are also a time to reflect on the past year and make adjustments for the upcoming year, if necessary.

For the past few years we have been holding our staff training at nearby Kikori no yado at Mt. Taihei.

2018 ALL Rooms’ Staff Training
February 2nd-3rd, 2018

Key Outcomes:

  • Increase the Conversation Circle from two times a week to three times
  • Have one Conversation Circle per week just for students who do not have a lot of experience with free-conversation
  • Change the name of the Conversation Circle! In Japanese, “circle” events are usually for serious clubs and are often really rigid. Based on participants’ feedback, we will be changing the name of the free discussion time to something perhaps more laid-back.
  • We welcomed 3 new staff members! They’ll start at the beginning of the next school year.
